Mustard Seed Project (Kyema - Uganda)

By and large this is the most daunting project ever contemplated by the Meltham Christian Community. It came about after the recognition of the need to care for orphaned children at Kyema whose parents had died from Aids and civil conflict.

Whereas there is a similar project in the next town (Hoima), see www.mustardseedproject.org , this is an orphanage which cares for children from birth up to being young adults. The time would come however, when these young adults must be integrated in the mainstream of society to become independent.

The Mustard Seed Project at Kyema divorced itself from the orphanage concept because of the management involved and intensive funding, instead chose the route to fostering. This model has worked successfully by:

                                                             .

  • providing   a family environment for each child
  • parental care

  • continuity of parenthood
  • mutual respect and

  • good morals

The Mustard Seed Project  cares for orphaned children in Uganda.  The children seen here are with their foster parents. Reasons giving rise to being orphaned are explained in the following pages.

Faith and Actions:  ...faith: if it is alone and includes no actions, then it is dead.
